The Simpson Strong-Tie PFC Post Frame Column Angle provides a fast, reliable way to connect wood columns to concrete foundations in post-frame and pole-building construction. Manufactured from heavy-gauge steel with a G90 galvanized coating, these post frame column brackets provide lasting corrosion protection while large corner embossments and edge stiffeners support tested uplift and lateral performance. PFC angles install as a pair and accommodate a range of glulam, nail-laminated, planed nail-laminated and solid-sawn column sizes, making them a versatile choice for pole barn post brackets, post frame anchor brackets and other structural wood-to-concrete connections.
Key Features
- Heavy-Gauge Steel Construction: Engineered to provide dependable strength for demanding post-frame foundation connections.
- G90 Galvanized Coating: Provides corrosion protection for common building and jobsite conditions.
- No Through-Bolting Required: Uses supplied Simpson Strong-Tie Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws to streamline installation.
- Tested Structural Performance: Large embossments and stiffeners contribute to tested uplift and lateral load resistance.
- Multiple Column Sizes: Available for a range of glulam, nail-laminated, built-up and solid-sawn wood columns.
- Flexible Angle Configuration: Individual angles provide installation flexibility for standard, corner and retrofit conditions when permitted by the applicable load table.
- Jobsite-Friendly Design: Select models include removable built-in washers to help reduce loose components during installation.
Applications
- Pole barns, agricultural buildings and equipment-storage structures
- Post-frame shops, garages, warehouses and commercial buildings
- Dry-set wood column connections to concrete foundations
- Pole barn foundation brackets and pole building post anchors
- Wooden post anchors for glulam, nail-laminated and solid-sawn columns
- Post and beam construction requiring heavy-duty metal brackets
- Retrofit or corner installations where individual post frame brackets provide useful placement flexibility
Installation
Install the PFC angles in pairs using all specified wood fasteners, concrete anchors and washers shown in the applicable Simpson Strong-Tie installation instructions and load tables. Standard installations position the two angles on opposite faces of the column. Adjacent-face corner installations may be permitted when completed according to the published corner-condition requirements. Attach the angles to the wood column with the supplied Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws. Where a built-in washer is included, remove it by hand and install it beneath the head of the specified concrete anchor. Some models require a separate standard-cut washer. Foundation size, reinforcement, anchor selection, embedment and allowable loads must be determined for the project conditions.
Complete the connection with compatible concrete post anchors, post-frame fasteners, pole barn hardware and structural connector accessories.
